Wilderness Cabin Rentals

Hike your way into Timbers, our secluded wilderness cabin surrounded by Kachemak Bay State Park. From the doorstep of this handcrafted timberframe cabin built with local beetle-killPhoto View of Timbers from Halibut Creek Trailheaded spruce, our families have hiked to numerous locations in the Park, a favorite being Grewingk Glacier, about three hours down the trail. Along the way we have watched nesting falcons, appreciated a meadow of violets, sampled wild blueberries and held glistening pieces of glacial ice. Upon returning to Timbers, we have enjoyed the quiet murmuring of the nearby mountain stream and the spectacular view of the setting sun from the deck.

Come discover our restful retreat on Halibut Creek. We invite you to stay at Timbers and experience the Alaska we know.

Timbers will provide:

  • woodstove
  • plenty of firewood
  • charming outhouse
  • non-potable water for washing
  • propane cookstove
  • basic cooking and eating utensils
  • beds and mattresses to sleep six comfortably (two double beds and a full-sized futon/sofa)
  • bedding also available (additional fee)

Access to Timbers:

Bay Excursions can drop you at the trailhead of your choice from which you hike into Timbers. If you prefer not to hike you may be dropped off at high tide for a short hike to the cabin. For the more adventuresome, consider a complete wilderness package with a flightseeing tour and drop-off at a nearby lake, a day-long hike to the cabin, followed by a night or two at the cabin before returning to Homer via water taxi with Bay Excursions. Due to the recent spruce bark beetle infestation the Lagoon Trail to Timbers may not always be accessable. Contact Karl for up to date information on trail conditions.
