Water Taxi

Bay Excursions offers water taxi services when you need it, where you need it. Rather than following a set daily schedule we are always on call and available. Some destinations, however, can be reached only during certain tides and must be scheduled accordingly...the tide waits for no one, nor does it hurry! Kachemak Bay tides can vary as much as 28 feet between the high and low tides, so one must plan ahead. Water taxi rPhoto dock and hikersates vary depending on the number of people in your party and your destination. Basic round trip transportation to the park is $80 per person including sales tax and the $4 park fee. Children ages two to 12 are $45 each. One-way trips are $40 per person. Add $10 to the basic price for transportation to Tutka Bay Sea Star Cabin and Tutka Bay yurts. Prices to Bear Cove will be $90 per person round trip. Peterson Bay is $60 per adult round trip and Halibut Cove is $75 per adult round trip. The Torega is licensed for 15 passengers and the Soleci is licensed for six. We will be happy to make special arrangements and rate discounts for larger parties.

Custom Wildlife and Birding Tours

Lifelong Alaskan and local naturalist, Captain Karl Stoltzfus provides guided natural history tours of the Kachemak Bay area. He designs custom tours to meet your interests and time frame. Only a limited number of tours are available each day, so it is important to book themPhoto Gull Island well in advance. A Marine Wildlife tour runs two hours and costs $65 per person. Children 12 and under are $35 each. Rates for a three hour birding tour are $75 per person. The cost per person depends on the duration of the tour. Longer or shorter tours and special rates can be arranged for larger parties. Birding trips are Karl's specialty and the rates depend on the total length. We also offer wildlife viewing, photography, and scenic tours.

Check the Captain's Blog for current bird and mammal sightings.
