Saturday, May 9 Spit Shorebird Habitat Dedication and Festivities
KHLT conducts a Summer Program of activities to help residents and visitors enjoy and appreciate the splendors of the Kachemak region. The schedule includes hikes on the Homestead Trail, beach walks, wetland tours , and visits to properties protected by KHLT conservation easements.
Saturday, June 13 10 am - 3 pm
Kilcher Homestead Hike with Rebecca Mitchell. Enjoy spectacular scenery as you hike through the rolling fields of this conservation easement property to the mouth of McNeil Canyon on Kachemak Bay for a picnic lunch. Wear hiking boots and bring water. $30 ea. includes lunch.
Sunday, June 14 10 am - 2 pm
Life History of Sandhill Cranes with Ornithologist Betsy Webb. Track down these magnificent and noisy birds. Bring binoculars and camera. $30 ea. includes gourmet wine and cheese luncheon at Magic Canyon Ranch B&B.
Wednesday, June 17 10 am - 2 pm
Toby Tyler's Spring Garden Party This is the best time to enjoy the early native flowers in this famous local garden. $30 ea. includes lunch of fresh garden salad, Two Sisters' pizza, and Toby's unique rosehip pie.
Saturday, June 20 10 am - 7 pm
Solstice Celebration at the Head of Kachemak Bay at KHLT's Krishna Venta Conservation Area, formerly known as the Barefooters. Join us on bikes, horses, or on foot (6 miles from the end of the road) to enjoy music, food, and great company. $15 ea. for members; $25 ea. for guests includes lunch.

Flightseeing Tour in Alaska's workhorse--the de Havilland Otter float plane--over Kachemak Bay, surrounding glaciers, and several KHLT conservation properties. $100 ea. (refunded if no-go).
Saturday, June 27 10 am-2 pm
Homestead Trail Hike with Becky Paul and Toby Tyler. Learn about spring wildflowers and local homestead history and enjoy a picnic at the Reuben Call Memorial on this fairly easy and very beautiful hike. $30 includes lunch.
Wednesday, July 1 10 am - 4 pm
Overlook Park Hike from Bishops Beach along the coast to the bluffs with Toby Tyler. Plant lore, geology, and local history will be shared as we hike and enjoy a picnic lunch. Wear waterproof boots and bring binoculars and water. $30 ea. includes lunch.
Wednesday, July 8 10 am - 2 pm
Terry-Comerford Tour with Mary Griswold. Visit this 200-acre KHLT conservation property on Stariski Creek with its variety of flowers and wetlands broken by patches of dense spruce forest and learn how we monitor our properties. Wear rubber boots and bring insect repellant. $30 ea. includes lunch.
Monday, July 13 10 am - 3pm
Neptune Bay Excursion to monitor KHLT's four acres of timbered shoreline property bordering the state park. Bring rubber boots and rain gear. $40 ea. (limit 6) includes lunch.
Wednesday, July 15 10 am - 2 pm
Summer Garden Party at Toby Tyler's garden. Appreciate the progression of the growing season and enjoy new flowers and garden produce. $30 ea. includes lunch with fresh greens and rosehip pie.

Homer Street Fair Visit our booth featuring our renowned brownies and jigsaw picture puzzles of our conservation properties and local scenery.

Overlook Park Hike with Toby Wheeler through the park, along the beach, and back up Diamond Creek. Wear stout hiking shoes and bring your camera, binoculars, and walking stick. $35 ea. includes lunch.
Saturday, August 1 Noon - 3 pm
Late Summer Tour of Daisy Lee Bitter's Skyline Drive Perennial Gardens with a spectacular view of Kachemak Bay and the mountains beyond. Bring your camera. $30 ea. includes lunch and garden starts to transplant.
Tuesday, August 4 10 am - 3 pm
O'Meara Homestead Tour with Toby Tyler to revel in the head-high fireweed, enjoy wide vistas of Cook Inlet and perhaps find ripe strawberries in the cultivated patch. This is a perfect family hike on fairly level roadways. $30 ea. includes lunch.
Saturday, August 8 10 am - 7 pm
Crow Kay by the Bay hosted by Marian and Dave Beck in Halibut Cove. Join us for a formal outdoor lawn party with croquet contests and a dinner banquet. $100 ea. includes dinner and transportation .
Wednesday, August 26 10 am - 2 pm
Calvin & Coyle Nature Trail Hike with Janice Schofield, author of Discovering Wild Plants. Learn about our local plants and their many uses on this easy-walking trail. A wonderful introduction for newcomers to Homer's natural bounty. $30 ea. includes lunch.

Dress for the weather and type of activity you are attending and please show up on time. Members receive a $5 discount.
