This page provides information regarding
membership and trail etiquette.
Membership-
Our ski trails don't groom themselves.
The Kachemak Nordic
Ski Club acquires most of its funding through memberships. Though
all of the labor done on the trails is by volunteers, there are
still expenses to maintain the grooming equipment. As our trail
system has grown, so has our need for equipment.
If you appreciate our trails, please become a member. Annual memberships
are $50.00 for family, $25.00 for individual and $10.00 for student.
Membership forms are available at Chain Reaction Sports and Homer
Saw, or call Dave Brann at 235-6018 or Wayne Watson at 235-4283.
Or click here for a membership
application.

Trail Etiquette-Please observe
the following:
Our trails run adjacent to private property.
Please respect the private property rights of others.
Dogs-Please keep your dog on a leash, harness or under control
at all times. Skier/dog collisions are a serious safety concern
and have occurred in the past. If you must ski with your dog and
your dog poops on the trail, CLEAN IT UP!. Use a pooper scooper.
No one likes scraping brown klister off their skis. (Incidentally,
Homer is one of the few trail systems in the country that allows
dogs on the trail.)
Classic (diagonal) skiers please use set tracks whenever possible.
Diagonal skiing down the middle of the skating trail creates a valley
in the trail and makes it hard for the groomers to groom a quality
skating trail. At least keep to one side of the trail when possible.
Please! Absolutely NO SNOWMACHINES, DOG-TEAMS OR MOUNTAIN BIKES
on the trail.
We discourage walkers on the trail. If you do walk on the trail
please keep to the side and out of the diagonal tracks. Snowshoers
also please stay out of the middle of the trail.
Beware of avalanche danger in steep gullies. (OK, so it's not really
an etiquette issue.)
Don't litter the trail. |
