About the Site

The entire Kachemak Bay Marathon Ski will be held on the Baycrest Ski Trail System, encompassing existing trails and several new extensions. Baycrest Ski Trails have been developed and are maintained by the volunteer members of Kachemak Nordic Ski Club. Due to the impacts of new development in the trail area, which includes the loss of the original Roger's Loop access point, this event gives the Ski Club an opportunity to introduce the Alaska Nordic Ski community to the new Baycrest Ski Trail access. It also gives the community the opportunity to show its support for Nordic skiing on public lands in the Homer area.

Event Start

The 30km event starts at 11:19am, with other events to follow in order of distance at approximately 10 minute intervals. The start/finish site is the proposed new access point for Baycrest Ski Trails. It is located on the North side of the Sterling Highway at Mile 168, across from the Kachemak Bay State Park headquarters. If approaching from downtown Homer, the start location and parking are approximately one-quarter mile past the Texaco station on the opposite side of the road. There is plenty of parking at the site.

Event Rules

Participants may skate or diagonal stride. Track will be set where possible. The course will be marked. All entries must be accompanied by the proper registration fee and signed waiver form. Entry fees are not transferable to other participants or to future races. Proper identification is required at bib pick-up to receive race packet.

Aid Stations

Aid stations, at 7- to 10km intervals, will have food, water and sports drinks.
