Bola Bolas are weapons for hunting birds when they fly near. When a flock of ducks, geese or other wild fowl would pass overhead the hunter by a quick motion untwists the sling. Holding the untied ends of the cords in his right hand, he seizes the ends with the left and draws the cords so tight that they lie parallel to each other: then, as the birds come within throwing distance, he swings the ends around his head once or twice and casts them a little in front of the flock. There are two styles of bolas one for hunting on land and one for water. |
