This is new. Spirit hunter. $395.00. The center is an Aleut hunting visor made of yellow cedar and decorated with painted designs, trade beads, and feathers. The tooth at the top is a seal tooth, the bottom is a walrus tooth both capped with baleen. A whale baleen strip encircles the visor and ptarmigan feathers decorate the whole piece. These items represent the animals that were hunted. The harpoon and paddle represent some of the tools that the hunter would need. Approx. Size 17"x17"x 5".



Grease Dish
 
This wooden dish is carved from Sitka Spruce in the shape of a diving bird with the head at one end and the tail and web feet at the other. The rim in inlaid with small glass beads. The traditional painted bowl is red except for the broad rim which is painted black. Dishes such as this one were used to hold seal oil in which food was dipped during feasts. Price $495.00. Approximate size 13" by 6" by 2 1/4".

Solid walrus ivory with whale vertebrae (top and bottom). Handle made with walrus ivory. Trinket boxes are made from natural shape of the hollow end of the walrus tusk so each one is very unique. Sizes & prices vary $150-$295

Iyak-One That is Hidden Whistler Mask

This pointy-headed whistler mask is based on a Chugach Alutiiq mask taken from a Prince William Sound cave by the Alaska Commercial Company in 1875. For the Alutiiq, whistling is a means of spirit communication. Shamans often used whistling to call their helper spirits, as this mask represents. May your helper spirits guide you on your path.

The Searcher mask was used to symbolize looking for the soul of one who has passed on. In the dance he would enter and search through all rows without finding what he wants.

The Bringer of Food mask was used in a ceremonial dance of respect that ends in the masked Payulik offering food to Elders and then children.
