Live Forest | Standing Dead | Fallen and Tangled | Forest Fire | Removal - Feller Buncher |
Removal - Grapple Skidder | Natural Recovery

In order to clean up the dead trees in an economically and timely manner we have to use large machines such as the feller-buncher shown above. An operator can fall and bunch 500-700 trees (3-5 acres) in an 8 hour period for pick up and delivery to a log site (an area for loading or chipping). We can keep the area clean of limbs and tops and make it much more efficient to clean up the ground area later. The old method of harvesting trees by men and chainsaws is out of the question for any amount of land over 1 acre. They cannot keep the area clean of slash and it takes more work to remove the logs from the area. The people with a small amount of acreage can group together for enough work to bring in an operation with one of these machines.
