Your Personal Floatplane

Think of us as your personal airplane with an experienced pilot. Tell us what you'd like to do, and we'll do our best to make it happen. We'll let you know before you go what your adventure will cost - chartering an aircraft might cost less than you think. In most cases, the cost is split between the passengers. Our Beaver aircraft carries up to six people, or four with camp gear; our Otter carries up to nine passengers, depending on the amount of gear.

Hike - Fish - Kayak

Let us drop you off on a lake for a few days fishing or hiking - you can stay in a rustic cabin, or pitch a tent where few people have been.

We can take you and your kayak to one of the National Parks. Float for days among glaciers and wildlife. Paddle up to sea otters and seals. Catch salmon for dinner. We work with some of Alaska's best kayak guides.

We will take you hiking or backpacking anywhere you would like to go, turning you loose to wander in the most beautiful, uncrowded wilderness you can imagine. Wherever you choose to fly, the scenery enroute will be a sightseeing treat in itself.

Fly out with a pilot-guide who can spend the day with you. Enjoy some of the world's best fishing, such as Illimana Lake or the Trophy Rainbow sites of the Bristol Bay drainage. Or, let us drop you and your family or friends in some remote region to camp and fish as long as you like - you only pay for the flight in and out.

Brown Bears

We were flying into McNeil River before the permit system was established, and we still do, on a seat fare basis. With permits so difficult to get, we now fly into other remote areas where brown bears abound and are protected from hunting.

We are now offering flights to a Research vessel able to take six passengers for five days for a cruise of the remote and beautiful coast of the Katmai National Monument, where the bear population is the highest in the world. You will sleep and eat in the comfort of a sturdy, well-equipped vessel with experienced crew, and spend your days in a smaller boat or on the beaches photographing the bears as they fish for salmon or dig for clams, ignoring you as they play with or nurse their young.

Imagine yourself in a primitive cabin, where outside the brown bears walk along the beach filling up on salmon for the long winter. We can fly you there. Or, take a day flight and see the bears from the air as they fish. Brown bear viewing trips are very dependent on weather, so give yourself enough time to make this trip one you will never forget.

Sightseeing & Photography

If you just have time for one flight, come sightseeing with us over the mountains, glaciers and shores of Kachemak Bay. In forty-five minutes you'll experience our most unforgettable scenery - for the price of a seat fare, with two to fifteen passengers. We've flown professional and amateur photographers from everywhere in the world through some of the most scenic and spectacular country in Alaska.

Kachemak Air Service

Bill and Barbara de Creeft have been operating Kachemak Air Service, Inc. since 1967.

Bill soloed in 1951, and has been flying seaplanes commercially since 1961. He has flown more than 19,000 hours, the majority of it in Kachemak seaplanes in Alaska.

The pilots who work with us are selected for their skill, experience, and concern for safety.

The Otter and Beaver aircraft we operate are the best in the business. Rugged and dependable, they have the capability to carry legal loads into small places when necessary.

We want you to have the experience you desire, but the Alaskan weather and terrain require patience and experience - your safety is our first concern.
