Log Search, QSL Policy, and Equipment Listing

If you are a ham, use the following search engine to check my log to see if we've had a QSO!

Your Callsign:

QSL Policy:

I'm happy to provide a QSL card, for all non-duplicate contacts, either direct or by the bureau. In the past year, I've mailed out over 2000 QSL cards. The following information provides my policy on QSLing.

Mailing Address:

Joe Hannigan, WL7M
400 Scenic Avenue
Pagosa Springs, CO
81147

Requests with sufficient return postage and a self-addressed envelope:

Direct air or surface mail requests with sufficient return postage and a self-addressed envelope will get a direct response. Every effort will be made to ensure a reasonable turnaround time. All requests normally are answered within a week or less, unless cards have not arrived from the printers.

Requests without sufficient return postage and a self-addressed envelope:

Direct requests without sufficient postage and an SAE will be returned via the bureau. Postage is expensive, and with requests approaching 2000 cards each year, I can't afford to supplement your request for a QSL card. The bureau is my only option to provide you with a QSL card from Alaska.

"Broken calls" and other log problems:

If a direct request is not in the log, I will make every effort to find near-matches at or near the date and time indicated. If the contact cannot be found, the card will be returned with an explanatory note if postage and SAE are provided. If an e-mail address is provided, I will contact you to let you know I can't find you in my log to see if you can provide clarifying information.

Electronic QSLing

After years of participating, I have STOPPED posting my log to eQSL.cc. eQSL has proved to be a waste of my time because of lengthy uploading/downloading times (I have only a 28K dial up access here in this part of Alaska....and it hits 18K on a good day), and ADIF standards/compatibility issues that no one seems to agree on. Perhaps ARRL's Logbook of the World will work. The moment a viable electronic QSLing system comes along, I'll be on board. Until then, please don't ask me to "eQSL".

Equipment

This is the equipment I use in my ham shack.   Between 1 January 2000 - 1 July 2002, I worked stations in 311 countries. I’ve been a ham since 1960, and enjoy HF DXing, SSTV, RTTY, PSK31, and CW as well as satellite operations.  I work all bands from 160 meters to 440 MHz.  I'm always thrilled to be the first Alaskan QSO for someone, especially a new ham!
