Point is host to a variety of events throughout the year. From snowshoe softball in the
winter to rubber duck races during the 4th of July celebrations; you will find
many activities to keep you busy and entertained no matter the season. JANUARY
Community Awards Banquet:
An evening dedicated to honoring members of our community who have given willingly of
themselves in the help to others and their town. Sponsored by Anchor Point Chamber of
Commerce.
FEBRUARY
Snow Rondi:
Four days of winter fun for the entire family. Activities include a pageant, snowshoe
softball, a parade, pool tournament, bazaar, costume ball, Nordic and snow machine events,
auction, and bingo. Sponsored by Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce with the assistance of
many other organizations and individuals.
MARCH
Cabin Fever Variety Show: An evening of entertainment
provided by the talents of local citizens. The show includes skits, musical performances,
dancing, and juggling among other acts. Sponsored by Anchor Point Friends of the Library.
MAY
Calcutta Auction and
Saltwater King Salmon Derby:
This event begins on a Friday evening with dinner and the auction; boats are auctioned
off, the bidders believing the boat will bring in the biggest fish during the derby.
Saturday is the day of the derby with the largest fish sharing the prize with the lucky
bidder and the Sportsmens Association. Co-sponsored by South Peninsula
Sportsmens Association and Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce.
King Salmon Season Opens on Anchor River:
12:01 A.M. on the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend is the opening of King Salmon
Season on the Anchor River. Even if you are not a fisherman, the only place to be is on
"the Anchor" Memorial Weekend, there is a festival feeling that lasts the entire
weekend all along the river and throughout the entire community. King season lasts for
five consecutive weekends on Anchor River.
JUNE
Kids All-American Fishing Derby:
The Saturday of National Fishing Week is the day of the annual Kids Derby, an event
of Hooked on Fishing International. The event includes a big fish contest and casting
contests with the large fish going on to state and national competition. Prizes are given
locally for the largest fish and for casting expertise. All events are free to kids under
the age of 16. A picnic is provided for contestants and their families. Locally sponsored
by Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce and hosted by Anchor Angler Tackle Shop.
JULY
4th of July Celebration:
A one-day fun filled event for the entire community. The days activities include a
parade, community potluck picnic, raft race, horseshoe tournament, beach golf, a rubber
duck race, and games for the kids including a coin hunt. A true "small town
America" way to celebrate our Nations birth for the residents and visitors
alike. Sponsored by Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce.
OCTOBER
Fall Fun Festival:
A mini carnival for the young and young at heart held the last weekend of the month. A
variety of games, contests, and raffles mark this evening of community fun. Sponsored by
Chapman School Parents Association.
NOVEMBER
Holiday Happenings:
This bazaar is held just in time for your holiday shopping. An array of hand crafted
items, specialty products, and home baked goods tempt the most discerning buyer. Sponsored
by Anchor Point Friends of the Library.
